Soo Line Cattle Co. is a purebred Red & Black Angus operation located in Southeastern Saskatchewan. Our purebred herd was established in 1996 to raise purebred Red & Black Angus bulls for our own commercial cattle herd.

Our website is designed to provide information for our existing clients as well as for those who are looking for quality Red & Black Angus seed stock, embryos and semen.

Historically, Soo Line has purchased select females every year from across Western Canada. In 2001 we purchased the entire Lone Pine Creek red angus herd of Dan & Anita Siemans of Olds, AB. This herd totalled 140 purebred Red Angus females. In 2002 a purchase was made from Geis Angus Farm, Brian & Kim Geis of Barrhead AB that included 38 red and 38 black purebred Angus cows. This was the birth of our Black Angus herd. We are currently establishing a large-scale embryo program at the ranch to harvest the outstanding genetics of the older LPC and Geis cows.

Our outstanding young herd sires can be seen in the sire portion of the website. In addition we are using breed leading AI sires to provide purebred and commercial cattlemen with the following benefits:

Maternal efficiency means much more than maximum milk production. The cumulative effect of reproduction, calving ease, optimal milk flow, fleshing and foraging ability, longevity, and low maintenance costs make Red & Black Angus an obvious cornerstone of any commercial cow/calf operation.

Fertility is one of the most economically relevant traits for commercial cow/calf operations.

It is estimated in some studies to have ten times more impact than carcass traits. Angus cattle have taken the lead in becoming the first breed association to completely describe reproduction through EPDs.

Longevity - the cost of developing replacement heifers is high. It is estimated that a commercial cow will not break even until she is five to six years old. The Angus breed offers an advantage by producing daughters who will stay productive in their respective herds past that break even sixth year.

Calving Ease - profit begins with a live calf, and heifers that experience calving problems are slower and harder to rebreed. Calving ease is a trait of major economic relevance, and Angus enhances this trait genetically with direct and maternal calving ease EPDs.

Our goal at Soo Line Cattle Co. is to produce predictable, consistent genetics, which perform in the pasture, the feedlot and at the dinner table. We demand moderate birth weights while, maintaining maternal efficiency, and profit-oriented performance. As you the customer tour through our herd, you will find consistent, deep bodied, easy fleshing, good-uddered cows. As in your operation, our bottom line dictates that our cows must calve unassisted and breed back on schedule for short calving interval with minimal inputs. Only breed-leading sires are utilized along with a rigorous AI program. In addition, we are extremely critical in the selection of replacement females for our herd. Only the very best earn the Soo Line Cattle Co. name.

Whether you need one bull, a dozen bulls, semen, embryos or replacement females we will personally help you fit the appropriate genetics to your needs. All animals are backed with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. You have our word on it.
